i eat 500 calories a day people say its unhealthy. but i can't reach 1200 calories or higher. I'm trying to lose 25 pounds in 2 months. i want do it healthy so i wont gain the weight back. i only eat 3 times a day. what type of food should i eat to reach 1200 calories. I'm 17 and i weigh 152 i lose 4 pounds so far.

  1. Ok, well the first thing you need to do is get off that 500 calorie diet!  When you first start upping your calories you may gain some weight back because you body might be in starvation mode, and your metabolism is probably bogged down and slow.  To get your body up to the required amount do some of these things:

    -**Eat breakfast, a big bowl of cereal and milk and a couple fruits, maybe a banana and apple, or a cup of orange juice or fruit juice.  Or if you want have some pancakes, or some toast with a glass of milk and fruit.

    -**For lunch make you you have some thing big and  healthy, for example a sandwich with cheese, lettuce, tomato, chicken (or any other type of poultry).  Then have some juice and fruit, maybe and apple and a glass of orange juice again (mix it up).

    -**For supper eat a variety of food, some grains (rice, noodles, pasta), vegetables (spinach, corn, carrots, etc), meat (unless your vegetarian) (chicken, beef, pork, and so on).  If your vegetarian beans and high protein foods is good.  Drink lots of water.

    I urge you to eat around 1500 calories at least, your 17 and growing.  Most teens need 1800 calories or more to provide adequate nutrients and vitamins for the body.  Also, losing weight in the healthy way would be losing around 1-2 pounds a week, be sure not to go over by a lot or you&#039;re not losing fat (your losing muscle, which is important for your body).  If you can&#039;t seem to eat enough calories have some snacks to make up for it.  Also exercise!  But make sure you give yourself at least one day of rest!

  2. the problem is that you&#039;ve slowed your metabolism down to manage surviving on so little. the same thing happened to me. you need to excersise every day and increase your calories slowly each week so that you dont gain weight - i dont want to scare u but u will gain quickly (if u dont exercise - which will also build more muscule to help jumpstart your metabolism). your body would be &quot;starving&quot; itself between meals as you only eat 3 a day. you need to eat at least 4, preferably 6 times a day (small portions) to rev your metabolism back up.  

  3. This won&#039;t help if you are planning on keeping it off.

    Your body is in starvation mode and as soon as you eat anything remotely like fast food it is going to go completely to fat. Your body is probably in pain often and i am sure you aren&#039;t up to your highest mental capacity on that kind of caloric intake.

    Eat 6 small meals a day at least your body weight x 10 calories a day.

    Eat 2-3 hours apart.

    Start exercising in moderation.

    Eat clean a 40% carbohydrate 40% protein 20% fat diet.

    There is no easy cheap *** way to do it. Unless you want cheap *** results.

    See the vision of what you want. pay the price. You can do it.

  4. Your body needs at least 1,200 calories to work properly. You just really can&#039;t go over 1,200 in order to lose weight. You can work out. And drink lots of water. It won&#039;t be the fastest way to lose pounds but its the most original and it works the best. Also sometimes I do this i look at a food pyramid and make sure your eating that many things a day like for dairy you must eat 3 servings to be healthy. And also you can stay away from carbs you don&#039;t want to eat to much carbs there not your friend. hoped i helped

  6. you can buy those 100 calories packs at like target or walmart you can eat those. you can still snack and also eat three meals a day you just have to eat the right foods but still stay active and healthy and DO NOT turn into those skinny stick people. when you do have snacks you can make them th 100 calorie things.

  7. 500 calories is so not healthy!  1200 should be an absolute minimum to keep your metabolism working right.  If you mess up your metabolism, it will be harder for you to lose weight for YEARS!  

    The web page below can explain (better than I can) how you should be eating to be healthy.  In the meantime, add healthy things to your diet such as:

    skim milk

    fat-free or light yogurt

    fruits

    whole-grains such as brown rice, and sweet potatoes

    heart-healthy oils such as olive oil, olives, nuts, avocados

    lean protein such as chicken, tuna, turkey, pork

  8. I did the same exact thing!! But i learned my lesson, strict dieting will backfire, I ate 500 calories a day to lose weight quickly for a dance i would be performing, a few months later I weighed more than i did before!! =(   once you start restricting your calories too much your metabolism starts to slow down &amp; gets out of control because of the sudden change...Water is good for keeping your metabolism running properly, try to keep hydrated with water.

    -- Eat whole foods, like whole grain bread it has fiber which is great for losing weight.

    -Fruits: bananas,apples etc.

    -Dairy: yogurt,skim milk (smoothies)

    -Fish,beans. .try making healthy sandwiches, like chicken,tuna,turkey sandwiches, it&#039;ll get you more calories and it&#039;ll be healthy. Eat things you enjoy, you have to love your food, eat what your in the mood for! Enjoying your food will really help and leave you more satisfied &amp; happy!  Allow yourself to eat some of your favorites foods, or even desserts, as long as you stay within your calorie intake (1,200) there shouldn&#039;t be a problem.

    --EXERCISE is very important when trying to lose weight, you have to combine both diet and exercise, make sure you exercise for about one hour a day, or at least make small changes like walking to the store, taking the stairs, or playing with some young relatives.

      Try to have a little patience also, if you keep it up great results should come soon, but not immediately! ( i was very inpatient)

    if you mess up, don&#039;t just say i messed up already might as well be a couch potato and eat all i want... KEEP GOING!! If you fall get up and keep going! Don&#039;t give up!

  9. you dont really need to lose wieght. 1,200 calories isn&#039;t even enough for your age. if you aren&#039;t active you should have 1,800! to reach that much, eat more calories gradually. make sure you getting enough of everyfood groups (including oils and fats...you body needs fats to continue to grow). get enough grains and dariy too.
