  1. 2/5 = girls

    3/5 = boys

    10 girls divide by 2 = 5

    5 X 3 = 15 boys

  2. 15 boys in class

  3. If 3/5 of the class is boys, 2/5 of the class must be girls.

    Since you now know how many girls there are in the class, you can tell how much 2/5 of a class is.....10.

    Now, if 2/5 = 10

    How much does 5/5 equal?

    The best way is to try and find out what 1/5 of the class is. Then all you have to do is multiply the number by 5 and you have what 5/5 of the class is.

    To keep things fair, you have to remember to divide both sides of the sum, if you change just one side of the sum, it won't be correct any more.

    So, if we divide both sides by two you turn '2/5 = 10' into:

    1/5 = 5

    Then you can times both sides by 5 and work out that:

    5/5 = 25

    There are 25 students in the class.

  4. 3/5= boys

    2/5=girls

    10=2/5 girls

    10 [total # of girls] / 2 [top # in fraction] = 5

    5= 1/5

    5x3[part of class that is boy]=15

    15[boys]+10[girls]=25 total students.
