  1. Hmm... hope my answer wasn't considered "sucky".

Because what I sad was true. Worked for a pet store oer 3 years and have had over 20 years experience with fish tanks.

  2. They're basically one of the hardiest aquarium fish there is.

Just cycle a tank, place the guppies in, feed it, and change the water once a week.

That's basically it, unless one gets sick.

Just in case you don't know how to start a gravel siphon, here's a link: http://www.fishlesscycling.com/articles/...

E-mail me if you'd like any more advice.

  3. i had guppies when i was younger. the only thing i remember about them is to make sure you dont feed them too much or too little. and if you decide to get females too, or the pet store makes a mistake, separate any babies you might end up with from ALL adults (otherwise they will get eaten).

  4. This is a great site that gives you almost all the information you need to keep and care for guppies. It was really useful to me, especially before I began keeping/breeding them myself.

    Hope this helps!

  5. Just make sure the tank is cycled before you add the fish or you'll jsut be wasting your money.  http://www.aquatic-hobbyist.com/profiles...

There's no need to replace filter media unless it falls apart.  Just rinse it in the used tank water when you do your partial water changes weekly.

Guppies are relatively easy to keep.  They like water in the 74 to 76F range.  They aren't usually a long lived fish due to their high metabolism.
