  1. 167.2 divided by 19 =8.8

  2. well, does your problem say how long the trains are?  since some trains are over a mile long, are you measuring the distance between the head ends (engines) or the last cars?  hehe  have fun

  3. The trains are increasing the distance between them at a rate of 19 mph.

    167.2 divided by 19 = ?

  4. For a start, this is a mathematical problem, not a word one. But why not post it on the homework help page. It really has nothing to do with this part of the board, other than you have been set a problem involving trains - but it could just have easily been cars or bicycles (at the speed)

  5. X = hours, therefore 9X+10X = 167.2

    19X = 167.2

    X= 167.2/19

    X = 8.8

      9 x 8.8 = 79.20

    10 x 8.8 = 88.00

    time = 8.8 hours

  6. Just a tip:   it is 24 hrs in a day and 60 min. in a hour

    you do the math using your average speed of travel  and the total miles for your destination and the answer is................???
