Help me read Wuthering heights!!!?

I need to read Wuthering heights before school starts (the day after labor day) and I'm having a ton of trouble focusing through the language. I've been using spark notes as I go to help me understand what's happening, but the language and plot are making it unbelievably hard to pay attention to what's actually happening.

What would you recommend to help me follow the book and keep me focused while reading?

  1. This site will take all the hard work out of the novel for you and help you to understand what is happening:

    Translation of  Wuthering-Heights

Emily's transliterations of Joseph's broad Yorkshire accent are not easy to understand, even for English people. On this page, I take some of his speeches and try and translate them into modern speech. More…

  2. First, you need to understand how to use the sparknotes properly. That will help.

Read the overall summary first. That will give you an idea of the plot lines (you'll spoil the ending, but it WILL help).

Now, read the character lists and get to know them a little. Visualize each character in your mind.

The next step is to begin reading the book. First, read the chapter summary THEN the chapter. That will also help you follow along. When you finish the chapter, re-read the summary!

At the end, if necessary, you might want to re-read the total book summary and some of the other notes.

Try just reading one or two chapters at a time -- put yourself on a schedule -- that might help you stay focused!

Good luck and congrats on a proper use of Sparknotes and actually trying to do your own work.
