Question:

Help me remember to drink?

I'm getting a bit worried about myself. Lately I have become aware of how little I drink. Today for instance, its 6:30pm and all I have drunk today is a small mug of tea and a small cup of water. Which . . . I'm guessing isn't good? I also went for a run at lunchtime. I just don't ever feel thirsty, so there are no warning signs to help me rememer to drink. If I try and force myself to drink, it just makes me feel really sick. Help?

  1. I was like you but now i carry a bottle of water with me everywhere and just have a sip from it every now and again! it does help and i feel a lot better in myself, i also have a glass of water with me when im at home!

    good luck x

  2. I have the same problem.  I don't drink much at all, and I almost never drink when I am eating.  I've started to keep a water bottle around me at all times, so I can take sips every now and then.  If you do it that way, you may not feel sick - because you're not drinking so much at one time.  Water really is the best thing to drink.

It would also be a good idea to eat more fruits, which have a lot of water in them.  And some veggies, like cucumbers, do too.

  3. The 8 glasses of water a day is a myth, most of your fluids come from foods and tea or coffee that you drink, if you don't feel thirsty you are probably ok

  4. Do you have any clocks that chime on the hour? You could drink a small glass of water each time it chimes. You could eat things that have soup in them, like noodles. Drink a large glass of juice with every meal, too. You should always always at least drink a glass of water after you jog. Do you not like water's taste? You could add some powdered drink mix to make it more interesting.

You could also try to eat 7 crackers at once. THAT makes you need water badly.

    Hope this helps a bit.

  5. What do you eat? if you eat lots of fruits and vegetables, or soups, you're probably getting some water from your diet. I personally drink tons of water. It's really hard until you get used to it. I just grab a big bottle of water and tell myself that I have to drink it all (and refill and drink again) in a day. I don't drink it all at once; I usually only drink a bit at a time. Keep the bottle with you and take a sip now and then.

  6. I force myself to drink by filling a glass with drinkable liquid, usually squash, and sitting it on my desk while I type/write/draw/paint/read. The fact that it's always within my line of sight makes me drink it. Then, whenever I need to fetch food, answer the door/phone, or go downstairs to talk to someone, I take the empty glass with me, refill it and take it back upstairs.

I find myself drinking without thinking about it so long as the glass is always full. Try it for a day.
