Help me save this baby mouse

I found a baby mouse on the road while riding my bike (couldn't locate nest or others) to save it i had to take it home but i never had a wild mouse.

The animal shelter is closed, in meantime what species is it, how to feed it, what to feed it and how to save it. looks like its homesick, eyes are opened and it occasionally moved here and there but mostly curls up somewhere and rests.

heres a pic of it, despite the closed eyes, its are opened but slightly, i can see its eyeballs.

  1. Try giving the mouse some milk and seed based foods. give the milk to him in a bottle very gently and feed him the seeds 1 by 1. look up on the web what kind of mouse this is.

  2. phone a pet store and they may be able to suggest a food for baby mice. In the mean time you can get an eyedropper and feed it a little milk. Good luck, wild baby animals don't live to long in captivity. I've tried to raise both birds and mice and you have too be with them all the time.

  3. You can buy rat/mouse food at any pet store. and maybe put it in a cage, if you have one. and if it is big enough. But also make sure you have something for it to hide in. Liiike... cut a small cardboard box, so that he can go in and out. and use bedding. basicly take care of just like a reqular mouse. you dont need to take to a vet. just make sure you take care of it!

  4. first look up the basic needs for a smal mouse and then take him to a vet and explain it to him and he will tell you everything you need to know

  5. That is a Meadow Vole. You could try giving it bread soaked in milk & canary seeds. It's no use trying to feed it milk from a bottle; there just isn't a nursing bottle small enough. Even NipPet nursers are too big! You could try a medicine dropper, but be prepared for failure. Orphaned mice are very hard to care for. The VERY best of luck to you & the Peeper.

  6. its soo cute!~

it looks old enough to eat by itself so you wont need to feed it milk. Mice will usually eat anything, maybe give it some cherios, vegetables or nuts you can also go to a local petstore and buy bagged food for the little guys. They will also drink from a small water bowl, unlike domestic mice. give them string, fluff, or a piece of clothe to make a bed and cuddle up in. Never try to pet the mice, since they are wild and may have disease. Sadly, most vet clinics do not accept wild mice as patients.

    Good Lucky with the mouse.
