If you didnt read my last question about the cats, you might as well. My story didnt go to well so I'm asking people to kindly give me some ideas please? I have never been told that my stories are no good, so I am thinking about giving up writing. I dunno... give me some ideas... i guess.

  1. It is not just about the ideas.

Sentence structure, spelling and correct grammar are important.

Every story needs character development, conflict and a resolution.

You must bring your stories alive and make your readers care about the characters.  You must write so that your readers cannot put the book down, that they HAVE to know what happens next.

Even your story about the cats, if written properly, could be a good one.

Take some courses if you're serious about writing.  There are also some excellent blogs and websites for writers.

  2. Never give up writing. If you like to do it, who cares what others think? If it's a hobby you like, keep on going. I also read your story and think you just need to practice.

As for an idea, though, I think a great way for you to get new ideas is ask the simple question "What if?" What if a dog was suffering from toilet water withdrawal? What if the world's mosquitoes banned together to fight back against humans? Even if the ideas are weird like that, they'll give you something to write about.

  3. Listen, girl!  After reading your cat story just a moment ago, I see talent, creativity, imagination, morals, family values----all of these in those 4 or 5 short summary paragraphs.  There is nothing there to support the idea of stopping or giving up....you've got something special and it will be even greater with a little bit of shaping by the right mentor.

I applaud you for your ability and creativity at age 10.  Bravo!  And if you do write your first successful novel soon, please let me know so I may enjoy it!

  4. Dont give up! Keep confidence! I say you should write a thrilling detailed story of a samurai in the Edo period to a 1800's British woman kidnapped by pirates. If you want heres an example of what i write of:http://yael31.deviantart.com/art/Aishite...

    Good luck.

  5. Your Trio of kittens story was fine! I honestly think you should stick with it! Maybe some other people don't understand it, but I get it! I would love to read what else happens to Waffles and the others.

  6. Well I didn't read the last story about the cats, sorry. But if you're looking for inspiration, it'll pop up on you when you least expect it. Go places, see people, let your imagination run wild. Read a lot, watch weird tv shows and movies, go some place that gives you ideas. Image search random things until an idea hits you.

I'm sorry your story got trashed, but if you post it on here it's fair game. You stuck the story out here, obviously expecting positive feedback, and you were let down. But they didn't know how old you were, so they were holding you to high standards.

You're not very old, right? Don't worry about it. Just keep writing and you'll get better. Grammar, sentence structure and basic writing skills are very important. They will all improve with age and experience. (And to have experience, you must continue.)

Never give up something you love just because you got put down once online. The people on Answers are very honest, and most of them know what they're talking about, so take their constructive criticism but don't dwell on it, because if you do it'll mess with your head.

Cheer up, dear. Good luck and keep writing!
