I really like that pattern, and I want to turn this into a large panel I can use for a sliding glass door in my family room? I want it to be one big piece, that I can just pull to the side if I want to open it.

Can anyone tell me how to do this? I have spent HOURS trying to find one large panel that I can use to cover the sliding glass door. If I can't do it with this ikea pattern, can someone tell me how to find/make/pay someone to make a panel for this? THANK YOU

  1. get a traverse rod that will pull all to one side  learn how to drapery pleat and use hooks to hang on traverse rod.. any drapery showroom would have contacts with a seamstress that could sew it for you.. for that kind of drapes though you need like 3to 4 times the width to have enough material.

  2. Ok, bare with me here. My girlfriend and I are visualizing what you want. 1st you'll need to purchase 1,2, or 3 packages. We don't know how wide your windows are. These items are 57"w x 97"h. So buy accordingly. Then take your curtains to your local dry cleaners with the dimensions of your window. Tell them your idea.(they may need to sew 1 or more together) Show them a picture of your window(s). Make sure who you speak with, speaks english and or understands exactly what you want. Make sure they can repeat what you want, and you! understand them! Then if they s***w up, it's on them, not you.Tell them that you are going to need to be able to slide a small rod through both top and bottom of your panel.(I hope you're a visual person) The rods will allow you to slide the panel left to right, or vise versa. Plus it will prevent the panel from swinging like a flag in the wind.  You can get these rods at your local Walmart, Home Depot, etc, etc. You should also consider the over all length and the weight of your customized window panel. The rod needs to be able to support the panel with limited or no sag. These rods also come with the appropriate end clips for attatching to your door. Now, be very careful when attatching these clips to your sliding door window frame. You'll need short screws, not the ones that come in the package. They'll be to long. You want a #6-8 by 1/4" length pan head screws. The last thing you want to do is put a s***w into the glass pane. It would help to stay towards the edge of the frame, about 1/4"-3/8" from the outside edge. Remember, know where the glass pane ends. We hope this will help you, and it should come out awsome.

  3. It's hard and expensive to find really wide material. Couldn't you sew the 2 panels together?

  4. Well......these curtains are lined so this may be a bit difficult for a beginner.

    Sewing them together to make one large panel can be done and I'll try to explain the process.

    1st - You will have to take the seams out of ONE side of each panel including the lining. {Use a seam ripper or a single blade razor.}

    Once that you have done that, match up the panels and pin them together with the back side pinned.

    Go to the sewing machine and use a straight stitch to sew them together.

    After you complete that step then you will have to stitch the top where the rod goes in -- straight over the top of the curtain.

    I see that they have a special iron on hemming strip for the hem so I would complete the hem last.

    Any questions, email me and I will try to help.

    Good Luck Megan!!! ♥

    *edit* - btw-- I like them and you can't beat the price for lined curtains.
