  1. My wife says the purpose of Rugby is to train two nights a week, play one day a week so that you can drink the rest of the week with buddies from the Rugby club.

  2. There is a book out there called Rugby For Dummies.  Also, I saw alot of good websites mentioned by other people who answered the question.  My boyfriend though says he learned the most by joining a team and asking questions.

  3. Hi,

This website will help you understand some of the basics (videos and written explanations): http://news.bbc.co.uk/sportacademy/hi/sa...

  4. In a nutshell its just a case of carry the ball over your opponents line for a try- 5 points, then your kicker gets to kick for goals to add a further 2 points.  So if your kicker is accurate your team gains 7 points per try.  Players may not pass the ball forwards, but may kick it forward.  Its also sometimes ok to hurt other players.

  5. purpose??? there is none

  7. If you want a full description of the laws and regulations, I would suggest you have a look at the International Rugby Board (IRB) web site. http://www.irb.com/EN/Home/

The full laws for the game can be got at http://www.irb.com/NR/rdonlyres/8910ED80...

Note, this is a pdf file.

Other options for the laws can be found at http://www.irb.com/EN/Laws+and+Regulatio...

Hopefully you will be able to understand the laws :)
