Democrats and Republicans are the main ideologies, what are they about?

  1. we are a 2 party system. basicly the same ideas. they just differ on how to inact them. clinton out of running. mcain republican vs obama democratic

  2. Oh, that's a big question - would take a lot longer to explain than a few sentences here.

I'm going to skip the ideology bit - you can check each candidate's web site for some basic information on their beliefs.

Currently, the major candidates for President are Barack Obama of the Democratic Party and John McCain of the Republican Party.  There are a number of smaller parties and independent candidates also running - most notably Bob Barr of the Libertarian Party, Cynthia McKinney of the Green Party, Chuck Baldwin of the Constitution Party, and Ralph Nader as an unaffiliated candidate.  These parties and groups generally don't have funding on the level of the major parties and/or they espouse ideologies outside the mainstream, which makes them extremely unlikely to ever win a national contest.

Each candidate must qualify for the ballot separately in each of the 50 states (and the District of Columbia).  Apart from the Democrats and Republicans, it's rare for so-called "third party" candidates to make it on the ballot everywhere (though often they'll come close), and there will sometimes be minor parties that only make the ballot in a few states, or even just one.

Because of how votes are tabulated the winner is, roughly, the candidate who wins states representing a majority of the population (it's somewhat more complicated than that - look up "electoral college" somewhere for a more detailed explanation).

  3. It really doesn't matter the ideologies now it's about popularity. Also with the passing of the Patriot Act, Bill 74, and The signing of the Bill that will eliminate border jurisdiction with Canada and Mexico which will unite North America as the North American Union. This has ultimately taken every right American Citizens had left. We are moving everyday towards complete martial law. Welcome to the American Political System.

  4. Our Political syem is that of a Democratic Republic. We give EVERYONE an OPPURTUNITY to have their voices  heard and that someone with similar ideas can represent them. That doesnot mean we get who we like all the time.

There are many different political parties and affiliations and most want you to believe HOW THEY believe....that s for sheep looking for a shepherd......I believe that Republicans support the economy and states rights and less taxes along with personal responsibility ( as do libertarians). Democrats want to create new programs to help the people and feel its governments role to be "parent" figures, taking care of the people. They believe in Big Government which requires a great deal of money that they get how? increased taxes......

  5. Democrats believe that everyone should be able to do whatever they want, to an extend (abortion, g*y marriage, etc.) They believe in the separation of church and State, not being at war, free health care for children, and higher taxes for fixing roads, feeding the poor, getting medical care for the poor, etc.

Obama and Hillary are both Democrats, and Hillary has dropped out.

Republicans believe in enforcing moral standards. They believe that s*x education belongs in the home, not the school. (They also think that kids should have/will be willing to obtain permission from their parents before becoming sexually active, by way of denying birth control to minors)

They believe that religion is an important part of the family, and some parts of the constitution should be lifted straight from the bible. They believe that the poor, sick, and young are not worth the taxes we pay to keep them alive. In fact, nothing is worth the taxes we pay to maintain it. They believe in building a better economy for the sake of having a better economy, not necessarily for the betterment of those within the economy.

    John McCain is a republican.

We keep voting in republicans because we figure both sides will s***w us over equally, and Republicans at least claim to do it for less money. This is not actually the case, as evidenced by higher taxes, a worse economy, 25% of teenage girls having STDs, low approval rates, high unemployment rates, low graduation rates, and a war that no one knows why we're fighting.
