I seem to never remember my dreams, but my sister's and my kids do.

My older sister drempt that she was at the Interstate Fair. She walked into the restroom and saw a row of mirrors on the wall. At the last mirror she saw Katie (My daughter) She was (as my sister put it) primping with her hair and makeup.

All of a sudden my older sister heard two gun shots coming from behind her. as she pushed open the bathroom door, she was standing on a beautiful beach, She said the water was blue and the sand was white, she said it was just beautiful. She heard the sound of gunshots to her right and as she scanned the beach to find where the shots were coming from, she saw people falling to the ground.

She saw a man, he was on his stomach and shooting people at random! As she got closer to this man, she realized that he was our nephew who was shooting people.

She turned back around and walked into the bathroom and saw Katie still standing there, Katie turned and looked at my sister and she had two bullet holes in her forehead, blood started to trickle down Katie's face. My sister started screaming and woke herself up.

This next dream was drempt by Amanda, another daughter of mine.

She said that she, her friend, Katie and some unknown person, she knew someone was there, although she did not see who it was. Anyway thery were driving through a pass (she thought this was a pass because of the high walls on either side of her) and all of a sudden a semi truck lost their load of huge pipes and she thought beams. She swerved to miss the rolling pipes and everyone in the car was screaming. She missed hitting the pipes and pulled off to the side of the road and asked if everyone was okay. When she looked in the rear view mirror, Katie was gasping for air. Amanda kept yelling and asking her if she was okay, finally she called 911 and started cpr. That is all she remembers of the dream.

Do I need to be concerned about Katie? Is this some kind of warning for her?

Please, if you can help me understand these dreams I would greatly appericate it.

  1. First off, please know that the following assumptions guide m response:

    (1) Only the dreamer, in theses cases, your older sister and then your daughter could possibly know what their dreams mean -if anything.

    (2) It is impossible for anyone -even the so-called "experts"- to listen to the details of a single dream and then offer insight, interpretation, or any type of advice regarding the dream.  One dream does not suffice for trying to assess, analyze, and interpret.

    (3) Dreams are not linear -yet, generally speaking, too frequently the dreamer as well as the so-called dream interpreter strive for linear meaning ... it just doesn't happen that way.

At the same time, please know there are "universal symbols" that are generally agreed on (experts and novices alike) that are also known as archetypal or primal symbols because they represent part of the "collective unconscious of the human species" (for more on that, please refer to the works of Carl Jung).

Then there are "cultural symbols" which are -as you can imagine- particularly biased toward the values and beliefs of the culture of the dreamer.  Finally there are the "personal symbols" that, most likely, only have meaning to the dreamer and her/his life experiences.

In my view, the dreamer is always in the best position to sift through the discontinuity, allegory, quasi-hallucinatory aspects of dreams and, as such, with some patience, insight, and reflection is likely to arrive at answers closer to her/his circumstances than what another may project ... of course, that's just my opinion.

To encourage you, your sister, and your daughter to consider reading about symbolism in dreams -and then, quite possibility- having a more robust and deliberative dialogue about those dreams, I've included two web links below: one is an Index of Dream Symbol Categories and the other is more of an overarching perspective on dreams ... I believe you will find these sites useful, fascinating, and [hopefully], enlightening enough to give some form and meaning to dreams.

    Have fun!

  2. This means your older sister was hanging around your nephew, and in her sub conscience, before she fell asleep, she was thinking about your nephew. Now why he was violently shooting in her dreams makes me wonder, he might be a bad *** little kid around her, and do risky things, or seem crazy, or his music is crazy and it scared her.

People have bad dreams and they can mean anything, usually, not some supernatural premonition, but thoughts intertwined, read up on Sigmund Freud
