  1. It's easy to buy into Communism when you lack to basic tools for survival. It's an upgrade of poverty......

  2. for the idealist, it really is a lovely thought....a community living and working for the common good...translating that ideal into reality, however, is the tricky bit...

for the opportunistic dictator, it is a beautiful way to exert absolute power over the population...step one, get everyone to buy into the ideal of a perfect state....step two, get everyone to agree to abidicate personal ambitions, property and values to that state...step three, name yourself and your buddies "the State"....

whether it be the personal ambitions of the people or the authoritarian goals of an autocratic few, it takes very little to distill the spirit of "co-operation" into "subjugation."

  3. Mao was good at military, but not so well in social development and economy.

i think he saw communism as a tool to get people's support.

by defination, communism is about a society where everyone are equal, everyone sharing goods and stuff.  sounds pretty cool for those who were poor.

communism is impossible though, its what we call an utopia.

socialism on the other hand, is pretty cool, check out north europe, socialist societies up there have much higher standard of living than the rest of the world.

  4. Well people might tell you it's all about equality but plain and simple it's about jealousy some people hate the fact that they have to slog their guts out for a pittance while others are seen to make millions doing bugger all, so they moan and whine about the inequality of it, all the while hoping that some day they'll be millionaires, personally my self i haven't got a pot to p**s in but still wouldn't want to live in a communist country, at least here the pot's mine and i don't have to share it with a whole community

  5. My guess is that more people want to rule a communist country than simply move to one.

  6. It should be known that Communism is purely an economic system.  It is just as possible to have democratic communist states as it is to have authoritarian and totalitarian communist states.

The idea behind communism is OUTSTANDING.  It's actually ideal.  The government provides property, health care, education, d**n near everything in equal proportions to everybody.  In theory, it's a wonderful system.

Unfortunately, we don't live in theory, and as is seen with d**n near every government, including ours, it can be b*stardized by people, who are corrupt.  We've seen that all communist states have come about by revolution of some kind, which means that they are starting from scratch.  The leaders of these revolutions tend to be from the working class, and communism would benefit the working class more than the other classes.  But, as soon as these people gain power, they are corrupted by that power, and the ideal Communist state becomes Authoritarian or Totalitarian.

Communism is, in theory, a wonderful system; however, due to the greed and corruptibility of man, it cannot work on a large scale unless the leaders are pretty much like Buddhist monks.

  7. Communism traditionally has appealed to underdeveloped countries in which there is a very small ruling class and a very large peasant population. The idea of creating equality is very appealing. The catch is that equality becomes just as distant a goal under the new system. However, the peasant class certainly gained a little bit after revolutions in Russia and China.

  8. the health care isn't bad at all... i suppose there's less of a need for money when you don't have to pay for all that stuff capitalists have to pay for
