Help me understand why my Mom says...?

I'm a lazy bum because I live in her basement and I'm unemployed. But I do not think I am because I'm working on getting a degree in Russian history and political science. My job is my education! I even had to learn Russian. Why can she not see that?

She says that because she wants you out of her house and thinks that learning Russian history and political science are useless.

No, your job is not your education.  Your daily activity is your education.  That's nothing like a job though - not even close.

If you aren't working at all while you get this degree, you're in for a serious shock once you graduate.  You need to collect yourself some work experience somewhere.
