  1. Shirley is 100% right.  However, if YOU don't even know the answer, how can YOU determine which answer is the most accurate?

  2. Bailey from the circus Barnam and Bailey was not a Bailey at all, his real name was James Anthony McGuiness.

Just so you don't go around claiming to be related to him like some other Bailey I know :-)

  3. You need to be more specific.  Apparently, you are under the assumption that everyone named Bailey are  related or shares ancestors.

There are lots of websites with family trees, but you must be very cautious about taking as absolute fact everything you see in family trees on ANY website, free or paid. The information is subscriber submitted and mostly not documented or poorly documented.  Even when you see the same information repeatedly by many different subscribers that is no guarantee it is correct. A lot of peope copy without verifying.  The information is only useful as CLUES as to where to get the documentation.

Ancestry.Com is probably the best, due to the amount of records it has online.  If it is too pricey, your public library might have a subscription to it.

Ancestry.Com and Rootsweb(free site) has almost 600,000 entries in family trees for Bailey.  But your Bailey family might or might not be in any of them.  Again, if you find some of your family, you should verify the information.  You probably won't find information on living people as that is considered an invasion of privacy and can lead to identity theft.

  4. All Baileys have large, hairy feet and a tendency to get maudlin instead of pugnacious when they drink too much. They sing well, too. If that doesn't fit you to a "T", you were obviusly stolen by gypsies and sold to a childless couple named Bailey, who never let on.

I'm sorry to have to break the news to you like this. It happens about once a week here. Just remember that your "real" parents are the ones that loved you enough to raise you, not the biological ones.

is devoted to the surname. Their standards are higher than here. If you post there, give the birth date (use the form 01 Jan 1803), birth place (county and state or town and shire are enough), spouse's name (maiden name, if a woman) and death date of someone who died before 1900 that is in your Bailey line.

  5. where is you Bailey family from? there's many different genealogies on separate Bailey families... some Bailey's from Michigan are French/Indian from Canada, and can be found on Indian Censuses, Annuities/Payrolls, and other BIA rolls..

  6. There was Bill Bailey who didn't want to come home.

There was Barnum and Bailey, the big circus.

There is Beetle Bailey, who Sargeant Snorkle beats to a pulp now and then.

There is "Old" Bailey, where you go for an English Trial

Otherwise, you should just Google Bailey.
