  1. just run.

you're a freshmen? im better than you. im in 8th and im a girl.

    i run a 14/13 ish 100

    a 28 sec 200

    and a 67 second 400...

  2. If you are really dedicated then you will do anything to be the best. You have to work harder than you have ever worked before. You need to push your limits. You have to ignore the pain. Running is mental so you just have to get all of the negative thoughts out of your head. You are going to have to train rigorously. It is going to be tought, but if you work hard enough then you will get the time you want. Don't make excuses, just run. Make goals for yourself every day and keep them. It may take a while, but you have to be patient. Keep your eye on the girl in front of you and try to stay with her. Good Luck!

  3. Hill workouts, long runs(10-15miles),100repeats, 200reapeats, 400repeats.... to sum it up just keep running drastic changes can happen i cut 26 seconds off my mile in two weeks by just wokring a little bit harder

  4. Although summer practices will help, doing another sport during the off-season will also help for track too. I would suggest mostly interval training, brief hill workouts, and some light strength training in addition to running. Most important thing to remember is to train hard, but not too hard that you get injured. Good luck with varsity!

  5. Former runner myself, I'd say STOP wearing your track shoes for practice, I always wore combat boots for practice, (AND ran 9 miles a day in them) When it came to meets I was much faster than my opponents, due to training in heavier shoes, And the adreneline shots I would give myself before a meet.

  6. You have said you run and try hard. I am wondering if you have added a good core workout to all this. If you start out in small reps and work your way up with crunches it helps a lot. Also if you can find a machine a lower back workout can also help decrease time. Form is very important. keep arms at a 90 degree angle relax fists and shoulders. swing arms. you can also try lengthening your stride while running. be sure to be on your toes. continue running hard, he times will come. it took me almost two years to drop my times in the 400  to a decently good time. wow that was some terrible english.

  7. join cross country and try your best. cross country is one big family that will help you improve. the long distance will get you ready for anything in life, especially next season of track. i am sure everyone on the team will help you achieve your goals, and maybe even more. good luck.
