also does anyone have any alcoholic drink ideas? new years eve i made jello shots and everyone loved that. is there anything else along those lines i can make in advance? either in cups like the jello shots or drinks i can make by the gallon sorta thing? i have a friend who makes a drink called apple pie. something like that.

  1. I will only comment on the snacks becuase technmically I can't drink yet :(  First a few bowls of Tostitos chips and salsa is a must.  These are simple and all you have to do is put them on the table yet they will be a big hit.  Also make bowls of cheese doodles or cheetos to put with the tostitos.  Simple things like these chips and dips will make your party a success without a major budget.

  2. here is a party planning site...i find some of the ideas VERY helpful.

i found this question and answer:

For those of us that like to entertain at home and serve cocktails, what are some good party drinks that are easy to prepare?

I always stick to the simpler drinks like the Mojito, Margarita, Martini or the long forgotten Pimms Cup. This way you can prepare some drinks ahead of time and also have your guest be interactive. With the Margarita you can fresh squeeze some lime juice and pre-batch the cocktail as you can do the same for the Pimms Cup. For the Mojito you could put Mint and other fresh fruit out and have your guests create their own. Then for the Martini you can get a selection of quality Gins and Vermouths with an array of Garnishes and let them play.

Sangria, the perfect party drink! This drink needs to be made ahead of time so the flavors can marry.  I have made this one many times and everyone loves it.

  6. Keep it simple, easy and thematic. Have a Wine and Cheese birthday party, it's elegant, sophiscated and quite simple. Go to your local grocery store and buy the following:

4-5 different kinds of Cheese, here's a list to choose from: (ricotta, brie, bleu, roquefort, provolone, gouda, Jarlsberg, Asadero, Quesa Fresca, Colby, Monterey jack, as well as mild, medium and aged Cheddar).

2-3 types of crackers, melba toast, french bread.

Fresh fruit (grapes, honeydew melon, cantaloupe, pineapple, strawberries, peaches, Lychee, and fresh figs)

A few different types of wine (SHIRAZ, MERLOT, ROSE, ZINFANDEL, CABERNET SAUVIGNON, CHARDONNAY, PINOT NOIR, SAUVIGNON BLANC).

U can also have a fresh, raw veggies platter (celery, baby carrots, green & black olives, cucumbers, radishes, zucchini, red & yellow sweet peppers, broccoli, cauliflower, etc.). Different flavours of cream cheese will be ideal for dipping.

And maybe a cold cuts platter as well (Salami, Ham, Capicolla, Mortadella, Pastrami, Pepperoni, Proscuitto).

Absolutely NO COOKING INVOLVED!! Enjoy and good luck!

  7. bring a variety of soda and bring crabs, sushi, chicken fingers, pizza, pasts and bring beer, margharita for dessert bring a huge ice cream cake ice cream lots of flavors and some pie you like

  8. Let's see TGIFriday's has a really good spinach dip it would be easy to just take that out of the package & throw it in a crock pot. The good thing about cheese dip is you don't have to elaborate on it just throw in a 2lb box of Velveta & 1 can of mild Rotel it's good enough but you can add bacon or hamburger meat for a hearty dip.

Making a signature cocktail sounds so much nicer than trash can punch! Pomegranate is really in now so find a pomogrante syrup or POM POM juice, add some rum & a little seltzer soda & you have a Pomegranate spitzer or some cute name like whaterver you name is like: Liz's Pomegranate Spritzy.

Also, you can make an awesome jello-o shot by adding watermelon flavored jello & pucker watermelon flavored liquor. The 2 marry very well! Have fun!

  9. bring beer and crack..ers
