what did people do in early times when they did not have any bridges?

and if you don't mind, could you give me a full answer.

u'd have to go back real early, bridges are pretty basic technology.

if you're talkin like a really really big body of water they tried to cross they'd just go around.

ACTUALLY, i just remembered in the time period 300 was set in (but this actually happened) the Serbian ruler built a mile wide bridge using just old boats tied together to cross, i think the red sea? any it would have taken two years if they were to go around it

they probably used boats or walked across a fallen tree or through thwe shallow water

they walked along the edge of the embankment until the water was safe to cross on foot.  built small rafts to float  or floated across hanging on to logs,  or like early american indians, built canoes from fallen logs.  

people were ingenious = where there was a will there was a way = and they did what had to be done,
