Help me with my elf story!?

I am writing a story about elves (like the LOTR kind) and i am using different ways of speaking, like instead of saying clothes, you would say garments. And just different stuff like that. So, based on that, what do you think they would say instead of 'getting married'. Would they say life bonding? Also, what would they call a tattoo? Thanx for your ideas and help.

Marriage would become betrothal and tattoos would become body art.

I would say that when you found the person you were supposed to marry, they would be your "mate" and marriage is the "bonding of souls" between two mates.  Body markings or just markings could be tattoos
