I'm supposed convince home-developers to build more green homes. What would be a good argument to convince them? Thanks so much!

  1. Check out the G. W. Bush home in Texas. It's a green home and a very good example of what can be done.

Oh, sorry Al Gore, yours isn't.

  2. The best way to convince people of something like this is to point out how they will save money.  To make an effective argument out of this you need to get some figures about repayment times for solar energy and hot water systems where you live.  Also argue along the lines that a design that is suited to the local environment in regard to heating and cooling will also reduce costs drastically over the life of the house, so look into that.

Then there is the resale value of the house.  Houses that are low in maintenance and running costs will surely have a better resale value with the cost of fuel spiraling out of control.

There is no point trying to argue that people should do "the right thing" out of their own pocket; a few will do so, but the real winner is to appeal to peoples' desire to be personally better off.

My website has quite a few technical details on it; it may be worth a look.

    Regards,

    Roger.

  3. I would recommend checking out http://www.greenandsave.com for over 50 ways that you can help the environment while also saving money.  It is the story of how one family turned their home into one of the most environmentally friendly home in the US
