  1. I am experiencing the same issue during this pregnancy. It is so awful that somedays it is hard to leave the house. I've gotten some mixed information regarding this problem. When I was pregnant with my first, a girl, I had this problem and the doctor told me to use Proactive, just the face wash. So I used it then and during this pregnancy but it hasn't helped. I just found an article on it and it says the following:

    What to use?

So what can you do maintain a clear complexion while you're expecting? Dr Reed gives the go-ahead for these over-the-counter and prescription acne medications, which have been shown to have no adverse effects on either mother or baby:

Salicylic acid, the active ingredient in such over-the-counter products as Stri-Dex, Clearasil Clearstick, and Neutrogena Clear Pore Treatment

Topical erythromycin, found in prescription gels or ointments like T-Stat and Erythra-Derm

Clindamycin, a topical antibiotic that your dermatologist can prescribe in the form of Clinda-Derm or Cleocin-T

Azelaic acid, a prescription cream found in Azelex or Finevin

Most facial masks, like Oil of Olay Daily Facials and sulfur-based clay masks, are fine, too, adds Dr Lamerson, as long as you check the label for other ingredients.

I hope this helps. If you find out any info that you can share I'd appreciate it if you would let me know.

  2. Regular egg yolks. You just seperate the yolk from the whites, break the yolk and spread it on your face like a mask, let it dry, and then was it off with warm water followed by cold to reclose your pores. I know this sounds crazy but its and old home remedy that really works. All the vitamins in the yolk clear it up!

  3. Taking your prenatal vitamins and minerals will help. Buy a higher quality format from a health food store to make sure there are plenty of minerals in the product. There is a new food product out called, Youth Juice that can help tremendously with acne as it provides the skin with the extra nutrients that it needs for beautiful skin from the inside out. Best wishes, G

  4. Nothing helped me with my acne when i was pregnant with my daughter.  And when i was pregnant with my son i had very clear skin!

  5. Help me with mine!!!!!!!!! I have been struggling with acne my whole pregnancy and I have tried just about everything! I don't know what to do because I wash my face twice everyday and sometimes it isn't so bad and others it comes back with a vengence. I am not so sure there is a way to fight hormones! Neutrogena On The Spot acne treatment at least kills my big ones a bit faster.

Sorry I couldn't help much. Good luck.

  6. You might not be able to prevent the problem altogether, but here are some tips that may help:

    •  Wash gently with a mild soap or cleanser twice a day, and if you use moisturizer make sure it's oil-free. Don't scrub your face with a washcloth, since scrubbing can make the problem worse. Instead, use your hands to gently wash your face.

    •  Pat your skin dry rather than rubbing it, which can irritate acne.

    •  Don't squeeze, rub, or pop your pimples — it'll make the problem worse and could lead to scarring.

    •  If you wear makeup, use products that are water- (not oil-) based and are labeled "noncomedogenic" or "nonacnegenic," meaning they won't clog your pores and cause breakouts. Be sure to wash off your makeup before going to bed, too.

    •  Ask your doctor or midwife about using medicated gels or lotions. If your acne is severe, you may need to see a dermatologist. A number of over-the-counter and prescription products help clear up acne, but some of the ingredients haven't been well studied in pregnancy — so don't use any acne preparation without your caregiver's okay.

It's particularly important to avoid the oral prescription drug isotretinoin (Accutane), which can cause serious birth defects. Avoid using topical tretinoin-like Retin-A as well. Prescription antibiotic creams containing erythromycin or clindamycin are perfectly safe, but stay away from those with tetracycline.

  7. I used proactive. My doc gave me thumbs up. Ask your OB if you can use it.

  8. i'd like to know too my face looks horrible!! proactiv has benzoide peroxide, not salicylic acid. my doctor told me benziode was okay but you should check with yours.. so maybe something like clearasil? umm tea tree oil can help but other then that im not too sure. sorry.

    good luck
