OK I have treated the dogs with Frontline Plus, bombed the house and vacuum just about everyday and treated the yard. It's been almost 3 weeks and 2 of the dogs are itching constantly the other one is fine. I bathe them and see no fleas and the bath helps for a couple of days. I give them benedryl when it's bad. Hopefully flea season will be over soon but does anyone have anything that can help calm down the itching? Thanks guys for your help.

  1. just leave them . the itching will leave .. dont worry :)

  2. I had a dog that was like that. She was a 8 lb Pomeranian, we would give her 50 mg of Benedryl and give her oatmeal soap baths. The baths with the oatmeal soap (we used Aveeno oatmeal soap- bought it in the baby section), and that helped calm down her skin. At the height of flea season, I bathed her several times a day. The soap did not dry out her skin, it actually moisturized it. She would just seem so relaxed while in the bath, because she had her itching relieved.

  3. Definitely a food issue . Try a fish based diet leave out foods with chicken protein. Guaranteed!

  4. It might just be the weather.

  5. If you are not seeing any fleas or flea f***s then it probably is not fleas, sounds more like an allergy to me. This could mean an allergy to anything, food, rugs..etc. Try talking to your vet to eliminate certain things like food. Good Luck!

  6. you can also try Listerine on the itchy spots.

  7. Try some oil supplement like yumega or give oily fish ; it worked with my dog and reduced the itching within a week.

  8. If you aren't seeing fleas then chances are fleas aren't the source of the itching.  The itching could be from too many baths drying out their skin or they could be allergic to something you are feeding them.

  9. Are you positive its fleas?, maybe an allergy or other skin condition.  My dog did not have fleas but did have skin irritation where I kept taking him to the vet and they gave him something for the scratching and also told me benedryl.  I got tired of the bills and tried Dr's Foster & Smith allergy caps and omega three tablets.  They worked with in a week, and the last time I saw the vet in April I told him and he said keep it up if it works, plus the omega 3 is good for his joints since he is getting older.  My dog is like new no more crazy scratching and chewing of his skin.  You can find Dr's Foster & Smith on line. www.drsfostersmith.com
