Help me with this RCA TV Problem?

The screen is too wide, and theres no menu to alter it. What do I do?

  1. do you mean wider then height? and did it just start doing it within the last couple of months? if that's the case there are 2 reasons this may be happening. the first is most movies and tv shows are filmed a certain where if they were shown on a movie screen or wide screen tvs it would fit. the stations use to have to use an adapter so it would fit a regular tv screen. but in doing that they were cutting part of the picture so you couldn't see it. so now most broadcasters don't use the adapter anymore so you can see the whole picture even though it doesn't fill the whole screen. the second reason is most broadcasters are converting to all digital and if you don't have a digital set that's the way the picture will be.


  2. Somebody engaged the service menu for the TV, and messed with it. Or, your deflection circuit and vertical circuit are failing at the same time, which is highly unlikely.

    Take it to a TV guy and ask him to adjust the thing for you. It shouldn't cost too much.

    You can usually find the service "secret" code on the Internet, if you know your model number, but remember... That's probably how it got screwed up in the first place.
