Please help me by telling me what 2 diamonds means in bridge?

It means many things based on the system you play and the agreement you have with your partner.

1.  Opening bid of 2d is a strong hand if you play strong 2 bids.  It shows a hand that is worth a min of 8 playing tricks i.e.  A,K,Q,J,10,x,x,x, of dia. could be opened safely with a 2 dia bid.

2.  If you play weak two bid openings it shows a hand with 6-11 hcp and 6 dia cards.

3.  If you play "Flannery," it shows a hand with 5 hearts and 4 spades, with opening count.

There are many other meanings so as you can see it is what ever you and your partner decide it is.  Remember, you must inform the opps of the meaning.

One more thing, these answers are all opening bids.  What about overcalls etc of 2 dia?
