  1. you just need to explain that it was a very bad word and that she should never ever say it again, all children go throught he phase, my sister just got out of it. as those bad words come out just explain why she shouldnt say them

  2. first offence is a talking to on how they are adult words and when she is an adult she can choose whether or not to use them. Explain if she does it again what the consequences will be and follow through

  3. Personally, I do not think that a spanking is in order, unless it is for talking back and speaking disrespectfully to you, considering that this is her first offense.  You should talk to her and find out where she learned that word or from whom.  If it is a friend or a friend's parent, limit contact with that person and contact the parent.  Tell her that some words are not nice and that she should not say them, even if she hears them from other people.  Draw comparisons to words or phrases that she knows are bad or hurtful, like "shut up" or "you're stupid."  Let her know that there are some words out there that by themselves are ugly or hurtful, and that if she hears a new word, she should ask you about it before saying it herself.  Talk with her in a very serious but loving manner so that she understands that you love her and want her to be the best little 7-year-old girl that she can be, and that is not a little girl who says bad words and talks back to her mother.  Good luck!

  4. Well I would have spanked right then, however if it has been long enough to post a question here and wait for a response it would be unfair to spank her now.

I would however explain to her that 1) using words like that hurt the people that love her, 2) using profanity makes her sound ignorant, not grown up which is probably what she is thinking and 3) if she says anything like that again she will be punished for it.

  5. First of all, even if she didn't swear she refused to obey you and that right there deserves a consequence of some kind.  A seven year old knows better that to sass their mom, point blank.  She needs no explanation on that one.

Second, if she knows enough about the cuss word to use it in a derogatory manner then she knows it's unacceptable to say.  She knows the word is wrong.  Tell her this and then give a consequence for using the cuss word.  In our house cussing and disrespect both get you a spanking.

If she was younger, say preschool aged or younger, I would say it would be appropriate to explain why the word is not nice and then leave it at that for the first offense, but she is seven years old and she knows enough about the word to use it offensively which tells me she needs no explanation.  If in your shoes, I would let her know that she will not use that language because she knows it's inappropriate and then I would either spank her or have her clean a tiled surface with a toothbrush, say the entire bathtub.  Either way, that kind of language and her disrespect deserves a consequence.

  6. You need to ask her where she learned this word. Then you need to explain to her that you don't allow this type of language in the house and that you really hope she will not use it again.

  7. I agree with Megan- 2nd answer? My 3 year old swore once and all I really had to do was the really surprised look and tell him that that is a VERY bad word and to never say it again, it funny cuz now (he's four) he will say something that he will think is possibly a bad word but he will say it verrry slow looking at me the entire time (most the time it's something like "butt"  or something that is very innocent. But I think the look of surprisement I gave him that first time (mouth opened wide and all) pretty much let him know that some words are not acceptable, But I'm sure it's not the last!!\

                                       GOOD LUCK!

  8. You should have spanked her on the spot but if shes in her room now then take her into the bathroom and wash her mouth out for 10 seconds. If she swears again make it 20 seconds, again, 30 seconds. You get the point. Good Luck. Dont let her do it again, lol.

  9. you can spank her if that's a form of discipline you typically use I would also punish her for the remainder of the week let her know that the word she used will not be tolerated and she will be punished every time she uses that word or any other bad word.

  10. Time to pull out that soap.

  11. Hi There I would say to bring out the soap, my parents used it on my older sister growing up and I tell you what none of us swore at our parents again.

  12. Is this not misbehaving?

You asked in another question 3 days ago "What happend to the good old bare bum over the knee spanking?" And stated "i am a mom of 3 girls age 3, 5 , and 7 and they all get spankings when they miss behave."

Now may I ask, why are you asking what to do?!

  13. Tell her that she is not to use that word again or she will get a very sore bottom. If she chooses to swear at you again then go ahead and spank her.

  14. You sent her to her room. That's the punishment. Go in her room and ask her where she heard that word. Explain to her it is not a nice word to say. Make her say sorry and promise never to say that word again. Explain is she does the punishment she will recieve.

  15. Punishing is only going to make her respect you less.

Tell her only white trash talk like that, she wont use words like that if she understands it makes people look down on her.

Its worth a try, since we already know punishing doesnt and has never worked.

  16. It's a little late now. Spanking her for something she did however long ago isn't going to help. Have a talk with her. Tell her it's a bad word. Tell her only bad people use that word and if she ever uses it again she will get *blank* punishment.
