  1. It's natural. It's a good thing you breast fed her so long, she should end up really healthy :) But its normal to stop breast feeding at a year old. Give her a little bit of solid food, she'll never want to go back after that XD

  2. Sounds like to me she is ready to wean!

I've heard that antihistaimes (sp?) can help dry up engorged b*****s, as well as wearing a restrictive sports bra.

  3. The only advise I can give is tylenol.  I stopped breastfeeding suddenly and my dr told me to use cabbage I forget why or a bag of frozen peas, neither were good for me.  First of all my son who was about your daughters age at the time gave me the hardest time to stop breastfeeding, I had to put bandages over the nipple area to get him to think I had boo boo's then he felt bad for me and wouldnt try to get at them.  The bandages helped so I wasnt leaking as much, the more you leak the more you produce.  Give it about a week or so of soreness and you should be all set. My son has been drinking  cows milk ever since

  4. Pump!  She has self-weaned, which is EXACTLY the goal mothers should aim for.  This means she has no need for your breast emotionally or physically anymore, and she can start drinking cows milk if you wish.  If you still want her drinking breast milk, then by all means pump, but if not, then just wait for the milk to go away.

  5. seek professional medical advise, not silly answers like mine here on yahoo!   this sounds unusual since it usually takes time to ween a child, not suddenly on their own, something may be wrong.  you need to learn how to ween and start introducing a new diet on your baby.  a breast pump may help your sore swelling b*****s during the weening process.  does your baby nourish only on breast milk?

  6. By 18 months, bottles have decreased alot and a child of this age should be eating more solids.  Dont stress, juts make sure she is eating healthy and yes cows milk is fine

  7. It sounds like she's weaning herself off. At her age, she can drink whole cows milk until 2 years of age( after two years of age, 2% milk is recommended).. I wouldn't let her drink more than 24 ounces total of any kind of milk because that would prevent her from getting the nutrients she needs from solid foods.  You will likely be engorged....you can either pump to alleviate some of the egorgement or simply let the milk dry up. She may decide in a day or two she wants to comfort nurse again. This is your choice. By  her age, she can get all the nutrients she needs from cow's milk and solid foods. If you choose to continue breast feeding her , it would be  from a comfort stand point.

Good luck! I hope this helps :)

  8. Its a good age to wean her just give her 4oz of cows milk at each meal and she will be fine. It will take a few days for your breast to go down. Just use ice packs for the pain.

  9. she should have been on whole milk at 1 year, and eating finger foods.you need to get with the program, and let go of your unnatural desires,no wonder she wont breastfeed, you also need to check on separation anxiety.not normal for you.

  10. Take it as a sign thats its time to stop breastfeeding. I don't know how you lasted this long  as I'm sure she has lots of teeth now...ouch!!!

Give her a gerber sip n smile sippy cup with handles (it has a soft spout thats easier transition from a nipple) and start her on diluted whole cow's milk with water for now. (Dilute it so its easier on her system) As she gets used to it, you can slowly start giving her full strength milk.

  11. I SHE NEEDS TO EAT SOILD FOODS NO MORE BREAST FEEDING!

  12. how long has it been since she nursed? She may be self weaning, or she may just be going through a phase and will want to resume nursing today or tomorrow. My advice is to keep offering her the breast, if she keeps refusing don't get upset. If you want her to continue drinking breast milk you can pump it and give her a sippy cup, or you can give her cow milk, goat milk, soy milk, rice milk etc.

  13. That's the right age to stop breastfeeding.

  14. 18 MONTHS OLD!! HOLY c**p THATS A LONG TIME TO BREASTFEED. KUDOS TO YOU FOR DOING IT THAT LONG. BUT YES YOU CAN GIVE HER COWS MILK. SHE COULD HAVE STARTED GETTING COWS MILK AT 12 MONTHS. HOWEVER DONT GIVE IT TO HER TO FALL ASLEEP WITH. IT CAN CAUSE WHAT IS KNOWN AS BOTTLE ROT. BOTTLE ROT IS ROTTING OF THE FRONT TEETH FROM MILK SITTING  ON THEM.

  15. Toddlers can drink cows milk at a  year as long as they are not lactose intollerant.

As for your b*****s; use frozen cabbage. Keep extra in the freezer cause your breast let off a lot of heat and wil make them wilt quick.  DO NOT PUMP if you are just gonna stop feeding. DO NOT TOUCH---DO NOT PUMP

As for her sleeping on you; put her to bed with one of your t-shirts, that will work.

  16. yeah its time to stop breast feeding and start solids foods with a little formulas. As for your breast either put a hotel on it so the milk can leak out or stand under a hot shower

  17. Well, breastfeeding is always best.  But you should've started her on some form of cow's milk by 12 months already.  Just to slowly let her body adjust to it and take in the nutrients.

As for your soreness, I used to take whole cabbage leaves and place them on my b*****s.  It cooled and soothed.  The cabbage leaves "soak up" the breast milk.  It worked for me.  Hope it can work for you.

  18. Cows milk would be good, whole fat. As for your b*****s, i would simply leave them and they will dry up eventually, i wouldn't pump them as the more you pump, the more milk you will keep making, best wishes :)

  19. Green cabbage leaves in your bra will help you out.

She could have started cow's milk months ago.  You could try pumping and mixing your breastmilk with a little cows milk to slowly introduce it if you are concerned about tummy upset, allergies, etc.  I did this with my son...at 9 months.  I would say mix it in a bottle, but she's a little old for those now.

My son was nursing AND taking cow's milk before he weaned.  Once he would take a bottle of only cow's milk...I stopped pumping and only nursed at night and in the morning.  Talk to your doc...but she definitaly needs some form of milk.

  20. Are you serious? She certainly doesn't need to be breastfeeding anymore, and as her mother you should know when she wants to stop for good.  Hint, hint:  she's telling you now.
