Help my budgies appears sick:( I got home from work yesterday and my poor budgies was lying on his side?

Question

at the bottom of his cage, I put my hand in his cage and he got up and walked around the cage bottom. He then used his beak and got himself up to his perch. His feathers appear to be really fluffed out which gives him an over weight appearance. His bottom appears to have quite abit of poo sticking to his bottom, he used to sing quite a bit, but has since become fairly quiet.

Please if anyone knows what this means please let me know

He is probably sick. Birds are so good at hiding it when they feel ill, by the time his behavior was this noticeable it is probably a very serious illness. If you live in an area that has veterinarians that specialize in small animals  and birds would get the bird in asap.  Otherwise, just make him comfortable and expect the worst.  I live in a rural area and every time I took by bird in it cost me quite a bit of money and my bird ended up dying within a couple of days anyway.  Unless a vet is specialized in bird medicine, there is probably not much they can do.  But you should call your vet just to be sure.

He's obviously not well, I've never heard of a budgie lying on its side. Take him to a vet as soon as you possibly can.

he is not just sick he is very sick you can tell because he is sick enough that he cant hide it from you

If he is still alive you need to get the dried p**p off his bottom asap.  Hold he carefully under warm (not hot) running water to soften the p**p and then clean it all off.  My guess is he is unable to go to the bathroom because his bottom is all plugged up.

Think want it feel like to be constipated, your hurt like crazy but still can't go, OUCH!

If you ever find your bird lying in it's cage you need to go to the vet ASAP! Go! Fluffed feathers, change in behavior- your budgie is apparently VERY ill! Please go to the vet NOW!
