  1. Male cats generally do not get stitches after being neutered (they don't at our clinic).

If he's l*****g at the site, that could be the reason why it's bleeding, because it's getting irritated.  If you can't get a hold of your vet, call another vet and simply as them your question.  A good vet will answer it, even if you're not a patient.

I would not put neosporin on it because although he might not like the taste, it may not be good for him to ingest.  Ask the vet.

  2. He needs to go back to the vet.  Call a taxi if you have to

  3. tye something around him so he doesn't l**k it and cuts down the bleeding

  4. NEOSPORIN is not for cats... do not put it on him.

Call the same vet THEY should help you at no cost.

  5. DO NOT TIE SOMETHING AROUND HIM! Press down on the bleeding with a soft cloth or gauze pad until it stops.  Dust the area with a pinch of cornstarch.  Then try to put him someplace quiet for a day or so until the stitches set better.  It's most likely just mild seepage, not actual tearing.  When I had a C-section my stitches seeped for 3 days.

I'm sure he'll be fine, but if you notice massive bleeding, swelling, pus, or a foul odor, get him back to the vet immediately.  Good Luck!

EDIT:  Use shredded B/W newspaper every day instead of litter until it heals.  Litter can cause impaction and infection if it gets stuck on the wound.

  6. This is an easy fix. If his stitches are not broken, go to your local pet store and buy on of those collars that go around his neck. It will look funny but it will do its job. If after the collar is on and you can get a better look if the stitches are open it is time to go back to the vets office. Also, your vet should have these collars if you can get in touch with them.

  7. take a towel a wrap it around your cat and change it went you need to. As soon as you get a ride take your cat to vet.

  8. First of all, he has probably licked the stitches and caused that to happen. I don't think you have much to worry about though. A cats tongue is really rough, and you cant stop them from l*****g themselves. And they l**k themselves to help heal their wounds. if you see that the stitched area is becoming a sore place then I would contact the vet just to ask questions. You can actually call the emergency vet place uptown or any vets office and just ask questions if you are worried about it. A lot of times you can feel their ears and see if they are really warm and that may mean they have a fever. If so, you know there may be an infection in the surgery area.Be sure not to let him go outside though, and keep the litter box clean so it wont get infections from those 2 places.Cats are pretty good about taking care of themselves, so try not to worry so much about it. Usually when a cat has a procedure like that, it only takes a few days before they are back on their feet and feeling like new. But they will l**k the place many times. PS I dont think I would put neosporin on it though. (Nothing against your mother in laws suggestion) That may actually make your cat sick if he licks it. There are some people remedies for cats, but neosporin is not one of them.
