Hi, I am currently restoring a cr250, 1987, and had a problem with the radiator coolant, firstly whenever i filled the radiator up the coolant ran straight into the gearbox. I found a small hole in the gearbox cover by the water pump and filled it, so i thought i was ready to go. However, i filled the radiator with coolant, the radiator held the coolant fine, but when i kicked the bike over there was nothing. I took off the exhaust to take the head off and i noticed the exhaust was full of coolant. There is obviously coolant getting into the barrel and diluting the petrol. Does anyone have an ideas please???

  1. head gasket

  2. like the other 30 people before me said, head gasket

  3. It is either a Head Gasket or a cracked Barrel Sleeve. I think these sleeve can be removed and a new one can be installed. Not a home project tho, unless you have an Oven and a Press. Indexing the new steel sleeve to the barrel is critical.

  4. preasure test it....make up one using a foot pump tube and a old rad cap...drill the cap, tight fit the tube, fit other to the bike tyre/valve...pump up the system and listen for leaks ,...

  5. Did anyone say headgasket yet?
