make sure that the filter is clean and that no water is ling at the button of the D.W.

The most common fault on d.w. is dirty filter or kinked water supl. pipe

If the disherwasher has a key pad it sounds like one of the switches in the key pad are stuck, the key pad will have to be replaced.
