  1. If the other dog has also died, then your family has to take anti-rabies shots to prevent the disease. Normally, you wouldn't need to unless your dog had licked you on an open wound. But as there are no tests for rabies in humans and no cure for rabies once the symptoms develop, it is safest to consult your MD for the anti-rabies shots.

  3. I'm not an expert, but rabies takes more than 10 days to kill most dogs, so it's not likely to be rabies. How badly bitten was your dog? it may have suffered from Tetanus or an infection rather than rabies.

    If I were you I'd take the dog to the vet. It's cheaper to get 1 dead dog checked for rabies than to get you entire family checked out.
