Help? my dog wont eat its dog food.?

well when we put the food in the bowl it would eat it and its been like 4 months and we still kept the same brand of dog food were giving her. she will smell it but wont eat it. is it time to buy a different brand?

No. If she is not dead yet she has been eating it. You think she does'nt eat, but if she is not dead yet or super skinny, she has to be eating. Don't change her food.

Possibly. Is it dry food? When my dog wouldn't eat her food we mixed it with wet food. Then she loved it! Or you could try buying some dog gravy they have at some pet stores and putting that over her food. Some dogs just prefer wet food.

Most dogs hate shop food. So look on google for home-made recipes and stuff.

put the food and water in a different place

mix in their favorite treats with the dog food (make sure that know the treats are in there)

Try a different brand, a good one is Canidae All Life Stages and try and use a different bowl.  Good Luck.

Throw a small piece of raw beef on top, she'll eat it then.

My first step would be to make sure that she is feeling alright.  Sometimes when dogs are not feeling well they will not eat.  If she is not sick there can be a couple of reasons she could have suddenly stopped eating.

#1)  She may just be tired of the taste of the food.  Think of it as eating chicken everyday for 4 months, boring.  Dogs can become tired of the same food, it is not that uncommon occurrence.

#2) There could be something wrong with the food.  Dry food can go bad after being opened for a certain amount of time.   You can check with the manufacture as to how long this period of time is, sometimes it is on the bag.  Always make sure that you keep the bag closed after opening  to help keep it fresh.  Also check the bag of food to see if you can visually see anything out of the ordinary.

#3)  Check to see if the manufacturer recently changed the ingredients.  Sometimes when the ingredients are changed, dogs will refuse to eat the food.  I have been through this with mine and ended up changing their food because they refused to eat or would only eat half of it every other day.

NO NO NO NO NO, keep her dog food the same and DO NOT give her any table scraps, she will eat it when she is hungry.
