Help my hammy?

Question

my cousin has a hamster and he has the 'runs' (poops) and he has not been very active lately and im scared he might croak.

what can i do to help him?

maybe you could play with him more and all hamsters 'runs' a lot or some hamster dont 'run' a lot its  and if your really worried bring him to the vet

i would see if it stops in a few days.....i would suggest to change the brand of food and if he still has the poops...take him to the vet.

Maybe hes sick OR he has wet tail. Take him to the vet. And maybe hes eating the wrong foods that arent sitting well on his stomach. Try giving him fresh veggies, fruits NOT CITRUS, snacks, theres stuff you put in water to get vitamins. Hope this helps. Ask her what shes feeding him.

He has wet tail! It's a very fatal disease. it might already be too late for him...but you can try take him to a vet, or any pet store might carry items to help cure it.

do yous feed him letuce ive noticed my hamster gets the runs after eating letuce so ive stopped feeding her it.

tbh taking a hamster to the vet is quite exspenive, im not trying to be mean

You need to get him to the vet very quickly.  This is a symptom called "wet tail" and it will cause the hammie to dehydrate very quickly, which will lead to death if not treated fast enough!

You can buy products at like petsmart to treat wet tail, but if the hammie has already had it for a few days then there isn't any time to home treat it most likely.  I am surprised the hammie is still alive at this point!  It is urgent to get medical care for him!

my first hamster hobbes died of the runs. get urs to the vet right away!!!! i waited 2 days because i thought it wuz acause i gave him too many treats but then  he died the third day. dont wait any more, especially if he isnt active or is lethargic!!!! they will give him a special medicin to put in his water( atleast most vets do) ur hamster probably has wet tail. But go to the vet just to make sure!!!

i thought there was meds that you could buy from the pet store that helps their p**p firm up, but its been awhile since ive had hamsters other than that id say he needs a vet cuz if you wait till he gets real bad off, ER vets are pricey$$$ however goodluck with that. wish you and your hammy the best!!
