  1. Oh no! John, this growth is a serious concern. It's called a 'saddle' and if it is not removed promptly it could lead to much more serious complications, like a sweaty back!!! Ahhh!

    Hehe

  2. I recommend bed rest and cold hosing for your friend.

    The horse will be fine.

lol, sorry, I'm a little slow tonight. I just 'got ' Bo's prognosis...

I recommend cold hosing for her too.

    tee hee

  3. see a vet

  4. You've made your horse into a sissy.  He'll never get over it.

  5. well it sounds like its the length of the saddle(make sure the saddle has been taken off) but as long as the saddle is off the horses back may just be swollen. i would call your vet and see if he can come out and look at the horse just to make sure its nothing major.

  6. Did he have an injury? If he did it could be a hematoma, which is a bruise/blood clot. If he doesn't seem to be in pain it should reabsorb in a week (disappear in 7 days).

  7. I would try to see if you could give it some penicilline to see if it helps clear it up. I don't know with out a pic. Geeze john you got a tough one on your hands there.

    If that does not help.

    Take the saddle off

Honestly if its not the saddle it might be a saddle pinch from a saddle to narrow for your damned big a@# clyde.

  8. John, take the saddle off.

Funny you should mention it. It's a condition that has become extremely prevalent recently known as:

Traumatic  Resistance Over Logistical Lyme Syndrome

It seems to be contagious too.

Fortunately I have been vaccinated. and now I am immune  .. grin..

    Edit to 1crossmare : lol!

Personally, I think I could use a little cold hosing!

  9. ::tongue in cheek::

    hehe

Is the growth brown in color?  Does it have a leathery texture?  I think that I can remove it with some extremely simple surgery.  I'll have to charge you about $10,000, though.

Watch out!  These growths are sometimes followed by strange items in the horses mouth and other growths in the facial area...

  10. A saddle? hahaha.

    I just couldn't resist.
