The wood stove was /is burningwhen I filled it up tight with wood and I had to close with a bang . this caused a series of cracks through the window in the door .It did not shatter but may.I know the air is getting in cause the fire is high . I did open it and took out a few junks but the larger ones are buring too much to do this .should I wait it out until it burns out,,,,(could be a long night ,..or should I open the door and douse the fire with baking soda or some such powder. im concerned that if I open the door the window may fall in....

please send your thoughts soon ...perhaps this lady is over cautious..but I do know the potential harm here as well...

thanks in advance..

Beme.

  1. I would wait for the fire to go out, unless you have a fire extinguisher. If the fire is out of control call the fire department, I had to call them once because the fireplace's back wall was very hot. It turned out ambers were burning between the wall and the fireplace, ahhh!

The glass on your stove is fireproof so I doubt it will start popping if it falls inside, but just to be sure I would place a fireplace screen in front of your stove just in case things start popping.

Okay, I'm inclined to call the fire department.

    Be careful!
