  1. You probably won't fry your amp, but it will constantly cut out on low ohms or thermal.  I would suggest getting 2 new subs (something besides Audiobahn).

  2. Okay I am under the impression that your talking about:

    - Audiobahn ABB122V (Dual 12" Ported Subwoofer Enclosure Loaded with 2 12" Subs); and

    - Kicker zx 1000.1

    Lets get some things straight:

First, never quote in peak or maximum power, always use RMS figures.

Secondly, the subs are 400w RMS each (combined total of 800w RMS).

Thirdly, the amplifer is 500w RMS x 1 (at 4 ohms).

Therefore as you stated correctly you are giving 500w RMS to subs which can take a combined total of 800w RMS.  I would give them close to the 800w RMS as possible.  You can't run them at 1 cos the amp only runs at 2 or 4 ohms.  Also, running them at 2 will mean the amp is giving 1000w RMS (which is 200w RMS over the input rating of the subs combined - not a good idea!).

I would either buy an amp that matches the 800w RMS (Kicker zx 1500.1 which has 750w RMS x 1).  I would not recommend either buying more subs (your still providing the same amount of power as the amp is not changing) or switching to 15s (poor SQ in my humble opinion)

Let me know if you have more Q's
