firstly, i know i am in the wrong section to ask this, but all i have had so far are silly answers that havent helped, so to cut this short, i have just given my living room a new re-vamp. it now has a very modern look. all my walls are painted in a nuteral colour, and i have light wooden flooring. no curtains, just blinds in a cream colour. the thing is, i have a leather suite in burgundy, which i have had for a while, but is in excellent condition. i have bought a large canvas picture with burgundys and reds in it, along with a couple of ornimental accesseries. at the moment i have cream cushions on the suite, which do look nice, but i dont want to keep sticking to this colour in cushions. have you any other ideas for colours that i could use, that would also fit in with the canvas and accesseries? i would be very grateful for any suggestions or ideas. thank you in advance.

  1. I'm not going to make any colour choices for you, as that is really down to your own preference (You're the one who has to live with it!), but I can suggest a few tools that may help you with your decision. They work using various colour theory formula based on a standard colourwheel

    Example colour wheel: http://realcolorwheel.com/realcolorwheel...

    Basic colour theory: http://www.colormatters.com/colortheory....

The first tool is an online tool called Elvan Online.

This can be found on the following page: http://colorschemegenerator.com/index-bl...

Use the colour sliders (red, green, blue) to select as near as you are able.

You can tweak the brightness by clicking on the little sun icons bright sun to lighten, dull sun to darken. The up and down arrow icons adjust the saturation (the amount/strength of the colours)

You can then play with Harmonious Colours pallet using the left/right arrows to select different types of schemes and complimentary colours.

My second tip is to download some desktop software, either:

    Coffe Cup Color-Schemer: http://www.coffeecup.com/free-dhtml/

    or ColorSchemer: http://www.colorschemer.com/

Both programs are quite similar, and have a trial period that will allow you to try out various colour combinations until you have found something you like. If you do decide to buy either, then Coffe Cups software is approx $20/£10 cheeper!

Good luck in finishing your interior design project - most of all, have some fun with it!

  2. You could have cushion background in a sand/fawn colour with burgundy/wine pattern.  Chocolate brown with cream pattern/stripe.  Brown with gold pattern.  Gold with brown pattern.  You could have one of each of the patterned and throw in a self coloured burgundy or brown or gold or sand.

  3. accents in sapphire blue or emerald green

  4. Black accents (black wrought-iron accessories as well), and yellows.

  5. chocolate brown and red go nice together or black and white or red and gold enjoy decorating

  6. You've come to this section for sensible answers!

  7. Teal.(very dark blue green)

  8. Ignore Black and White, too controversial....

  9. Get some cushions with a print or pattern including your burgundy and throw in some dark blue and green. Get those colors flowing with a throw rug, an afghan, a couple small pictures, asst. candles, vases to tie it all in.

    Just a few ideas there.

    Good Luck and have fun.

  10. Nice fresh green with the cream cushions would look ok with burgandy-Spring is here -  matter of taste!

  11. burnt orange, burgundy, dark chocolate those colors go well together... not to mention its comforting

  12. i think some blue things could realy complement the burgundy.

Im talking sort of a duck egg blue ( i know it sounds silly but google image it ) not baby or powdery like teal/turquoisw.

  13. gold

  14. coffee brown
