Help needed to identify a type of flowering 'palm'.?

The leaves grow to about 6 feet with creamy-white blossom on stems as high as 10 feet. The blossom hangs down Chinese lantern style. Thanx in advance

  2. It sounds like a Yucca Filementosa.  Quite spectacular when it flowers for the first time!  It should flower most years after the first - sometimes with multiple spikes.  Look out for snails nestling in the crown - they love it and need to be removed regularly.
