  1. she should come back to it she needs time alone and its a good idea to keep the dad in with them if there dwarf hamsters. the same thing happend to me actually its happining now the dad is taking care of the last baby idk y its never happend before...

  2. It's never easy when a mother animal rejects her babies, you can do two things:

    1) Let nature take it's course

    or

    2) Go to the petstore, get the smallest bottle with the smallest nipple they have, or maybe the vet would be able to help with that Get a milk replacer, like goats milk, puppy milk works too. Then get a heating pad with a thermometer, go home and put the baby hamster in its own cage or something like it, put the momma's nest with the baby on the heating pad to make sure he stays warm and feed him only as much as he can eat in like 2 minutes every 3 hours or so. You can try this and see if he will survive, but it looks as if the mother does not want anything to do with her babies and they will die unless you try this.

It's okay this happens all the time, sometimes the mother hamsters get too stressed and wil eat her babies, sometimes ineperienced mothers don't know what to do with their first litter, and sometimes the mother can detect that there is something not right with her babies, like birth defects. Also if you handled them too young the mother will stop taking care of them because they no longer smell like her babies.

I read something interesting once, a mother mouse took care of hamster babies once because they put vaseline on her nose so she coud not smell that the babies were not hers, nor even a different species... cool huh? Though I do not advise putting vaseline on your hamster's nose, as you may suffocate her.

  3. its ok just let the mom do her natural thing if she has rejected the babies could be because you handled them or she cant manage keep checking on the baby if the mom is still rejecting it then maybe you shood look up on some advice about raising it yourself

  4. Sometimes a hamster will have unknowingly been bred at the pet store and you may be surprised to find a litter of babies in your hamster's cage shortly after bringing her home. Also, if a pair of dwarf hamsters was incorrectly sexed, you may be surprised by a litter. The most important piece of advice is "Do Not Disturb."

  5. If it is her first litter it's very common for her to let them all die/even kill them herself. Hamster mothers stress on their first litter some times and it takes only one simple loud noise, a little nudge to the cage, or even too bright of a light in her eyes to scare her; or anger her; and she will no longer feel like taking care of her pups.

You can always breed again in (recommended) 2 months.

And don't keep the dad in there! Sometimes they do help, but they are more likely to attack babies then the other is.

Make sure you don't handle them until 10-12 days, too.

  6. I think that its because it has a human scent on it
