  1. don’t worry about it.It's all natural occurrences in the healing process.

  2. No, you should not put in a clear retainer on Saturday. A week is not long enough, you cannot change your jewelry until it is fully healed which takes months. Plus, most retainers are plastic (yours could be glass but I am assuming it's plastic) which is a big no no for healing piercings.

What should you do? Go to your piercer and make sure everything is okay. Crust is normal, red is normal, if it is dripping blood that is not so normal. If it's dried blood, that is fine. If you ever have any worries about piercings, it is best to go see a piercer rather than post on yahoo answers to get help, half of the people on here have no idea what they are talking about but think they do.

  3. if its swelled up then i think its infected

  4. If you have a RECENTLY pierced lip, expect that thing to bleed and be swollen for at least a week, if not closer to two.

I used to work at a tattoo parlor, and you're not doing anything wrong yet. Mouth piercings are notorious for being swollen for a really long time. The crustyness is normal with all piercings, and is just the dead white blood cells from the healing piercing. The redness is just the swelling, and is also normal.

If you want to reduce the swelling and bleeding, try to avoid playing with the jewelry, try sucking on ice cubes, and sleep with your head elevated slightly above the rest of your body.

I DO reallyyy want to stress a particular point, which is that it is highly inadvisable for you to take out the stud to put in a clear retainer. First of all, movement of the jewelry impedes the healing process, which is what would happen when you removed the original jewelry. Secondly, plastic really shouldn't be put in healing piercings because plastic is porous, so the skin will end up healing into those minute holes in the retainer and make the jewelry incredibly difficult and painful to remove.

If you're putting the retainer in for only a few hours, you shouldn't have a huge problem, but it will really lengthen the amount of time it's going to take that piercing to heal, and if you can avoid it at all, you really shouldn't remove the jewelry except when you go back to get the post downsized after the swelling has gone.

I hope it's feeling a bit better now, and if the swelling hasn't gone down a lot, and if it hasn't stopped bleeding (except if you get it caught on something, cause then it's bound to bleed a bit until it's completely healed) and what not after two weeks have gone by since you got it pierced, then you should really call the piercer who did you lip and ask them for advice, and be prepared to go in and have them take a look at it.

    Good luck!
