Help on Goalkicks?

I'm 14 years old and I can kick an average from 35-45 yards. I've read every single thing there is to improve, but i'm still not getting as far as I know I can. I practice nearly every day, and I don't take a huge run up. I'm just wondering if there's a secret or something I don't know about. Usually some of my kicks get high, but go really wide and have A LOT of backspin. PLEASE HELP!!!

  1. keep them short and let your team play the ball up.

  2. Based on what you've said, I think putting the least possible backspin on the ball is the key. You sound like you have a pretty good foot, so you need to make sure to not get under the ball. You don't need a long run up. Try striking the ball from the side. It'll take practice, so you can practice shooting into the net. Remember to eliminate the backspin by striking the ball more towards the middle. Try hitting it almost like a knuckleball in baseball.

  3. I honestly don't think it's because you're doing it wrong. You're still only 14 years old, and you won't reach your full kicking potential until you're about 18. But what you can do now, is work on your Quadricep muscles at the gym. That might get you kicking further and stronger, but just let puberty take its course.

As for the ball going wide and kicking style, find out what works for you. Go to a park or somewhere with a full football field and goals. Put the ball as far as you think you can kick it, and shoot on goal. Just keep practicing until you get a perfect kick.

    Good luck.
