In 1995 my husband was served with a ticket for not stopping at a stop sign in Florida. He didn't pay, he left the country the next day to fly home. He is now convinced if he goes back there he will be a "wanted" man! Does anyone know what the outcome would be if he did return, if indeed anything.

  1. what would happen is if he committed any crimes or got pulled over they'd do a check on the computer (just as they do in the UK) and the unpaid ticket would come up, i dunno what would happen then though, i suppose they'd ask him to pay it probably with a fine as well i would of thought.

  2. Your husband has a warrant out for his arrest and he would be arrested if he was noticed by the police.  Call the courts where he was arrested and work it out.  I would bet money that he could just mail the fine in and have it cleared up.

  3. Yes thats correct, an unpaid ticket leads to an arrest warrant. The best thing for him to do is to contact the court that he was ticketed to. He will have to pay the fine and usually what is called a bench fee through the court, it's usually an additional 100.00.

  4. If it was that long ago, odds are it is now in the dead file, but if he really wants to know, call the Sheriff's office in the county where it was issued and ask if there is a warrant issued for him. If there is, ask how he can settle it now, if there is, he would probably have to pay the original fine plus a penalty.
