Question:

Help on adoption?

My mom might be adopting a baby. Why a baby? Well if we adopt a child, it will be more likely to be shy and not comfterble around us. But, a baby is just a baby, and when it gets older it knows we are the ones who raised it. So, what are the adoption steps and the process. What do we have to do. Any GOOD websites that help adopt a child?

Thanks a lot!

  1. now in the daughter was sold without my consent for $29,600 plus birth mother expenses. plus costs for background checks the birth etc.etc. etc.  but if dad steps in i can assure you the cost goes through the roof. i am contesting and the combined legal cost for 19 months is in the multiple hundreds of thousands now. so beware and be careful

  2. Well, your mom can find an adoption agency to handle all of the details and let her know the cost.

It is nice that you are involved and want to educate yourself.  Tell your mom you want to be part of the process.

You can go online and look up adoption agencies in your area and send away for their information.  Then sit down and talk to your mom about what you have learned.

  3. Hi.  If your family is considering adoption, the first step is to do research.  There are many avenues to adoption and it's important to look at each one carefully, before choosing what route is best for your family.  The point is to provide a home for a child that needs one and that your family is able to meet the needs of that child.  So when you are researching, think of it in those terms.

If your family is considering infant adoption, it is probably the most expensive route to take.  It is also the least predictable, with regards to a time frame of completion.

There are some websites out there, but it's best to look at several, talk to agencies, read books, talk to adoptive parents and adoptees before making your decision.

    Good luck.

  4. A was adopted under 2 weeks of age.

I always knew that I came from another family.

I always wanted to know my other family.

Please be aware - that no matter the age of the child you adopt - that child needs to know all of his/her families - to know where they came from - and where they're going too.

(being around those that look, act and have talents such as yourself - is very important for the child's self identity and self worth)

If people want to adopt - and be the 'one & only' parents in that child's life - please reconsider - and perhaps don't adopt.

Asking an adoptee to be loyal one way or the other - is unfair.

They don't ask to be taken from their family of birth - and given to strangers. (those choices are made by adults)

Please allow the adoptee to know their truth - and be sensitive to what being adopted is all about.

Adoptees want to love all of their families = and be loved equally in return.

Adopting an infant will be hard - as there are not that many available - the waiting lists are long.

Whereas - there are already over 100,000's of children in foster care - all various ages - (from infant) - waiting for adoption - and in need of a loving home. Many are all ready for adoption.
