  4. Here are some web sites with some great vegan/vegetarian food.

    http://amys.com

    http://organicfoodbar.com

    http://gardenburger.com

    http://yvesveggie.com

    http://bolthouse.com

    http://naturespath.com

    http://turtlemountain.com

    http://fruitabu.com

    http://clifbar.com

    Here are some good recipes:

Stir fry- You need cut up tofu, soy sauce, olive oil, steamed veggies, and cooked rice

Get a frying pan and coat it with olive oil. The put the tofu in the pan and brown each side of it. Next, add the veggies. Add a little soy sauce and put in the rice. Mix everything up and then let it sit on the stove, occasionally stirring it to make sure it doesn't burn. After about a minute and a half of that put it in a bowl and enjoy!

Hummus- chick peas, lemon juice, paprika, cumin, black pepper, and any other spices/seasonings you like

Puree the chick peas. Then add a little lemon juice, paprika, pepper, and other spices. Then stir. Serve with a pita, with cucumbers, or on a veggie wrap.

Here are some snack and dinner suggestions:

    Amy's Apple Toaster Pops

    All natural popsicles

    Natural Valley bars

    Clif Bar

    Silk Chocolate Soy Milk

    Naked Juice

    Apple chips

    Dinners:

    Natural Oven's bagels

Dr. McDougall's Soups and Noodle Soups

    Soy Cheese Quesedillas

    Veggie Wraps

Whole foods is a great store for vegetarians/vegans, so I recommend grocery shopping there. You also can get a lot of the things I listed above there.

  5. slice a block of tofu, then crumble it up in a hot fry pan with some olive oil, and fry it till the moisture is evaporated and it is browned and looks yummy.  you can add a splas of soy sauce to brown it.  then use this in almost any recipe to replace meat.  tofu takes on a lot of flavor as long as you add LOTS of sauces to your dish.

  6. Check out PETA.org.  Get the free Vegetarian Starter Kit.

  7. you can think about what animals go through to be given to one to eat.  you can buy bocca or morningstar farms "fake" meat. and just stop eating meat for at least a year and see how you feel and keep going if you want to.  to get protien some vegs. eat eggs, peanut butter and other things that have protein.  you can also google going veg. tips.  i dont have any websites off the top of my head.

  8. make sure that you eat lots of protein from beans and nuts and stuff to replace the meat.

  9. Aww I remember being there!!  At first I just didnt' eat meat when I had the option, that way it was a convienent transition for me and my mom.  Then from there I went down and down to less and less meat down to no meat.  And I LOVE it!!!  Don't use PETA though...they're prochoice organization.

  10. Sure, check out these two sites for lots of transition tips and food ideas:

    http://www.tryveg.com/

    http://www.vegcooking.com/makingthetrans...

Basically, you can take it at your own pace. Some people go veg overnight, while others take a few weeks or months to slowly transition. You could make a list of your favorite meals and recipes and then figure out how to turn them into vegetarian versions. For instance:

Pasta and meatballs ---> pasta and Nate's Meatless Meatballs

Sub with deli slices ---> Sub with Tofurkey Deli Slices

Stir fry with chicken strips ---> Stir fry with Morningstar Farms Meal Starters Chik'n Strips

This site has a list of some of the popular fake meats:

    Good luck!

  11. I am the same way! I stopped eating red meat and haven't had beef in over 3 weeks, and pork in 9 days. Take it day by day. And don't overdo it. I like taking it slow. All I eat (meatwise) is chicken, turkey, and fish. I alltready feel healthier!

    Good luck!
