Help on deciding on HDTV: Sony Bravia 32" or other Sony?

I know the 32" is 720p and XBRs are 1080p. I heard its useless to make a smaller 32" or 27" 1080p because the picture quality is negligable. Is this true?

$800 vs. $3300 for 46" XBR? Something leads me to believe there is something not that good about the Sony Bravia 32" if its so cheap.

  1. Get the XBR! I have it and it is the best gadget in my house.

  2. XBR are one of the best out now. almost everything tv reviewer gives it 5 out 5 stars. I ahve one and its picture quality is great.

  3. There are non-XBR Bravia sets that have 1080p.

Smaller screens, however, don't necessarily allow you to discern greater detail with 1080i or 1080p source materials.

And, XBR usually have more features and capabilities.  They may amount to a better picture, but quality should still be good with non-XBR models.

XBR sets are among the best, but they can be pricey. If you do manage to afford one, you'll definitely appreciate it. But, if it's out of your range, then just try to buy what looks good to you and get as much as you can afford.

Stick with Sony or other known Japanese brands, though. Don't buy the cheapest possible thing (Vizio, Polaroid, et al).
