Question:

Help on giving quotes for websites?

I have some clients that want me to build them websites but I am unsure about how much I should quote them. I'm new to selling sites so it should probably be a little less until I start to build up clients. Most of the clients are also small businesses without deep pockets.

I'm figuring it should be charged in tiers or something:

basic html pages cost a certain amount,

dynamic pages w/ clientside scripting (ie special navs)

serverside scripting,

database (charged per table?),

user logins, shopping carts, unique templates, designing logos, etc

Haha, i have no clue. I know if anyone gives me an answer it won't all fit in yahoo, so here's my email if anyone wants to take the time to help me out. shanemrowley@gmail.com

Thank you in advance!

  1. Don't need a lot of room to suggest you charge a percentage of their profit, especially if they are small. Small business small payment, but if they become successful you reap the benefit. Get it in writing, witnessed and notarizied. To be honest, it probably depends on the type of business. Online business? how many hits. Retail or other, how many customers driven by your design.  Goodluck
