Help on insurance.?

Okay so I am sixteen years old with a month old baby girl. I live in Arizona right now with her and my mom. There are to many problems at home though so my mom said she'd sign stuff to have me move to Texas with a friend. But my daughter had open heart surgery and needs to have insurance to have follow up appointments. We both are under my moms insurance because I can't have my own since I am a minor. If I move to Texas could I get insurance for my daughter even though I am a minor? I will only have money to support my daughter, nothing extra so is there anything REAL cheap if I can get it.

  1. You should be considered an emancipated minor if you had a child. Otherwise you couldn't be able to make decisions etc for, and affecting your daughter. You need to be able to enter into contracts as a parent. You may have to ask the state what paperwork you need to prove this.

I would stay home as long as possible for most of the followup visits before you left.

In Texas, you should hopefully be able to get health insurance where you start working. If not, I'd look into medical assistance. Otherwise you are probably looking at $300-$600 monthly for insurance for the both of you. Some states have insurance just for the kids that is free or reduced cost. It may be just like medical assistance, but you would need to go to social services to get it in any case.

    Good luck
