Help on skateboarding?

Question

should i go to a skate park and buy a good board and trucks and everything, or should i just get one from wal mart?

im 14 and about to start skating for the first time

also any tips and advice would be good.

I would go to the local skate shop and get a blank deck and select your trucks, wheels and bearings ($100).  If you are just starting out you'll appreciate the fact your deck is "born" just as you are into the world of skateboarding.

Go to your local skate shop and make customize it the way you like it. Dont waste your money on walmart junk.

make the board stand out!! use bright colors and dont match anything!!! ( it will look cool )

Wal-Mart boards suck.  It'll be real hard to learn tricks on it.  My first board was from a website called ccs.com.  Check it out

i would get a blank deck from a skate shop, because blanks are as good as professional decks and cheaper. Wal Mart boards are prone to breaking really easy, and are kind of embarassing to ride. a complete blank deck would be the way to go.

A complete blank deck would probably be around 70-80 dollars, but for the deck alone it would be 20-30 dollars.

I would also suggest getting it from a skate shop, because almost all wal mart boards arent for doing tricks on.

(good boards have curved sides, flat boards are very hard to do tricks on.)

go to the skate shop and get a blank deck for the first board because you are learning and if it breaks in the learning process then you'll save like 20 dollars and they're really light.the wal-mart boards suck everything is fake and sucks

the trucks are g*y

the wheels are fake and slippery

even the boards are fake and the grip tape sucks

real boards have curved decks and a concave (curved part)by the nose and pore pop

When you first start off just get a middle class one from ***** Sporting Goods - It'll run you about 30-60 dollars but it's better than 200.

Airspeed is decent. Mongoose is decent for when you start out.

Tips: Eh well just don't have fear, fear is what makes you get hurt cause you can't apply all of yourself to the trick or whatever. So just go for it without thinking (but not being stupid)

If you get further into it then you can buy a better one xD
