Help on the Tropical Rainforest Biome.?

What would the consequences be if the tropical rainforest biome was completely wiped out of existence? First person to answer by thursdAY (tommorow) will be chosen as a best answer. also, why doesn't their spelling register rainforest and biome as real words?

  1. The first link has a great map showing just where the world's rainforest biomes are.  It also goes into some good detail about what conditions have to be met to define an area as a rainforest.

    The second link, while more academic, has some great resources listed to delve into some of the world's specific rainforest systems -- the Amazon, Southeast Asia, Northern Pacific Rim, etc.

    I think if these forests were completely wiped out, there would be an alarming and devastating shift in not only the climate, but long term weather patterns, other ecosystems, wildlife populations, etc.


  2. It would be like ripping the lungs out of your mother and drinking the blood, she would die... Rain forests are the key to  the CO/2, O/2 cycle and hydrological cycles for the planet. Thus lungs and blood so to speak. Not to mention the huge biodiversity that would be lost that we have only identified  20% of the component plants and animals.
