Ok. I'm wanting to upgrade my ps3 hardrive from 60gb to about 360gb. I have checked ebay and there is many portable hard drives that work on ps3 for sale but the problem is if I bought a portable hardrive it would act as a USB stick and I couldn't save games onto it. Can anyone help on what hardrive I need to buy that will fit inside of the ps3.

  1. No, you don't want to buy a portable drive that plugs into a USB port.

You need to buy an INTERNAL SATA hard drive that fits a 2.5" form factor. This is the same type of hard drive that is used inside a laptop.

    The requirements are:

Must have a SATA interface (NOT IDE or USB)

Must fit 2.5" form factor (NOT 3.5")

Should be 5400RPM speed (a 7200RPM drive may be OK, but is not guaranteed to work)
